Generative AI
Also called: GenAI
By HubAI editorial team · Source checked: 24 October 2026What does it mean?
AI that produces new text, images, sound, video or other outputs from learned patterns and supplied input. New output is not automatically correct, unique or cleared for every commercial use.
Picture this
You ask for three polite ways to decline a meeting. The assistant drafts alternatives; you choose one and check that it does not promise something you cannot deliver.
Where you’ll come across it
First drafts, brainstorming, editing, prototyping and media production. It works best when you can explain the intended audience and judge the result.
What it doesn’t mean
Generating an answer is not the same as finding a verified fact. Check claims and review relevant rights before publishing or using an output commercially.
Choose the task before the tool
A short exercise · use fictional or non-sensitive material.
- Pick one small job you already know how to do, such as turning rough notes into an agenda.
- Write down what a useful result must include. Use fictional notes for your first attempt.
- Compare the result with your checklist and count the changes you still need to make.
Could you explain why this helped, without using the word AI?
Did that make it clearer?
