Anthropic has expanded Claude for Small Business with 43 ready-to-run workflows and 27 new integrations. The useful buying question is not how many apps connect, but which single recurring job can be proved safe, accurate and worth its complete cost.

Short answer: useful operating templates, not a finished AI employee
Anthropic expanded Claude for Small Business on 15 September 2026. The release lists 43 ready-to-run workflows and 27 new integrations across accounting, payments, commerce, CRM, communications and marketing. The plugin runs in Claude's work environment and can schedule recurring tasks. That can reduce setup work, but the number of workflows does not establish that any one of them is accurate, suitable for UK records or cheaper than the process it replaces.
What the package can now cover
The official examples span a Monday business brief, inbound-lead response, proposal preparation, marketing production and month-end close. The broad Monday brief lists 37 eligible connectors, while individual workflows support smaller subsets. Named services include Xero, Shopify, Stripe, Gusto, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoom, QuickBooks, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack and Zapier. Buyers should check the connector attached to the exact workflow rather than assuming every integration can perform every action.
Pricing is the paid plan plus the surrounding stack
Anthropic says the plugin is available on every paid Claude plan and recommends Team for businesses with more than one person. It does not announce a separate universal plugin price in the release. The complete cost can still include the Claude seats, paid accounts for connected software, implementation, permission review, correction time and any specialist or accountant review. A free Claude account should not be treated as a trial of the complete small-business workflow package.
Approval mode is the starting control—not the final assurance
Anthropic says workflows begin in approval mode: work is staged and waits for the user before something sends, posts or pays. It also says existing software permissions continue to apply, and some high-consequence steps such as submitting payroll remain with the user. These are valuable boundaries, but a buyer still needs to test whether the proposed action is correct, whether the approval screen gives enough context and whether an employee has broader source-system access than their job requires.
UK accounting and employment work needs local proof
The published examples are largely US-led, and the current in-person tour is in US cities. UK firms should not infer HMRC, Making Tax Digital, payroll, employment-law or accounting-policy compliance from a generic close-books or payroll workflow. Keep the accountant, bookkeeper or qualified owner responsible for the accepted output. Test dates, VAT treatment, chart-of-accounts mapping, audit trail, currency and source reconciliation using a controlled copy of real UK work.
Begin with one read-only job
The safest useful starting point is a weekly brief assembled from read-only sources. Freeze the required fields, source systems and acceptance rule. Compare the AI workflow with the current process for four cycles. Record missing or stale data, unsupported conclusions, correction minutes, permission exceptions and the complete cost per accepted brief. Only then consider a workflow that drafts a reply or proposal; keep sending, posting, payroll and payment actions behind named human approval.

Claude for Small Business is a credible shortlist candidate for small firms already using several supported systems and struggling with repeat coordination work. It is a poor reason to connect every account at once. Choose one recurring job, reduce permissions to the minimum, preserve human approval and compare the result with the existing process.
