THE BRIEF IN 30 SECONDS

What you need to know

  • Paid Chat rollout starts 7 October; Free and Go expansion starts 8 October
  • Sol serves paid Chat tiers; Luna serves Free and Go
  • Intelligent UI works from Instant to Extra High, not Pro reasoning
  • Enterprise administrators can control access; Work and Codex models unchanged
01
THE CONTEXT

Short answer: Chat is changing, Work and Codex are not

OpenAI announced GPT-6 with Intelligent UI for the Chat tab on 7 October. Rollout to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise starts that day; Free and Go expansion starts 8 October. This is a staged rollout, not confirmation that every UK account has received it. Enterprise access also depends on administrator settings. The models used in Work and Codex do not change as part of this announcement.

02
WHY IT MATTERS

What is new in the answer

Chat can compose text, visual explanations and interactive elements, including comparisons, diagrams and small tools. It may still return plain text where appropriate. Answers can start while the model continues thinking or using tools. Treat a partial response as unfinished until later findings arrive. The release describes the experience, not a guarantee that a generated tool is correct or suitable for business decisions.

03
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Plan and mode: Pro is not one entitlement

OpenAI says the everyday Chat experience uses GPT-6 Sol on Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, and GPT-6 Luna on Free and Go. Release notes distinguish Instant through Extra High, which support Intelligent UI, from the Pro reasoning option, which remains GPT-6 Astra and does not support it. A Pro subscription and selecting Pro reasoning are different choices. A missing interactive response alone does not establish a broken account.

04
THE CONTEXT

Why it matters: check the working answer

HubAI analysis: an interactive comparison can make assumptions easier to inspect than a long paragraph. It can also make an incorrect calculation look more credible. Start with a non-sensitive task whose answer you already know. Change an input and verify units, defaults, arithmetic and edge cases; open cited sources. Check what an export or shared conversation preserves before using the result in a client handover.

05
THE CONTEXT

UK availability and cost: verify the account

The announcement describes a global rollout, not a UK-specific entitlement matrix or a new GBP price. HubAI has not verified an individual UK account, feature completion date or device behaviour. Check the Chat tab, selected reasoning option and workplace controls before upgrading for this feature. ChatGPT subscriptions, API usage and Work or Codex allowances are separate purchasing questions; this article does not add an API model or rate card.

06
THE CONTEXT

A buyer test for interactive tools

HubAI analysis: use one known-answer comparison and one small calculator with explicit assumptions. Repeat them on web and the intended mobile device, and retain the full response and changed inputs. Try an unsupported question and a missing value. Check whether the tool explains uncertainty, preserves source context and remains usable with keyboard navigation and zoom. Do not give a generated form sensitive data until its purpose and destination are understood.

07
THE CONTEXT

HubAI buyer verdict

Try the new Chat experience in your existing plan when the rollout reaches the account. Choose the mode around the task rather than expecting every Pro option to show Intelligent UI. Keep familiar calculations and source checks as a baseline. A polished answer, an earlier first response or vendor safety claims do not establish independent accuracy, end-to-end speed or compliance. The ChatGPT profile remains Test pending; no HubAI Score is assigned.

08
THE CONTEXT

Evidence, editorial status and search intent

Independent editorial coverage; not sponsored. The story answers which ChatGPT plans and modes support Intelligent UI, and why Work or Codex may look unchanged. Official availability and mode statements were checked on 8 October 2026. No directly relevant query appeared in the visible first 25 of 174 UK Trending Now entries; broad interest is inferred from the consumer plan scope, not measured search volume. The original cover maps access choices without copying product UI.

HUBAI VIEW

Try one everyday task in Chat before changing plans. Check the actual account, reasoning mode, underlying evidence and complete answer rather than treating a polished interface as proof.

What to verify next

1Confirm plan, Chat tab, reasoning option and workplace settings

2Wait for account rollout rather than assuming universal UK availability

3Check completed answers and the original sources

4Verify calculator units, defaults, arithmetic and changed inputs

5Test sharing, export, keyboard access and mobile readability

6Keep sensitive data out of a prototype until the data flow is understood
