This is not a direct SME grant. A UKRI-eligible research organisation must lead; a business can participate as a project partner.
Lead: UKRI-eligible UK research organisation. Required collaboration: an AI expert and a non-AI domain expert.A direct fit for applied AI in engineering biology, advanced materials, quantum, medical research or fusion energy. AI methods without a clear domain application are out of scope.

02The team must combine AI expertise with expertise in a non-AI priority domain.
03Projects may have a full economic cost up to £250,000; UKRI states it will fund 80%.
04The call is subject to approval of UKRI's full business case.
